click "fast reply" type away, then click "add reply"

You can also go into your user settings and turn on fast reply, so that it's always at the bottom of a thread. It's there, but you have to enable it.

New post Im referring to is to "view new posts in the past 24hours" like in mazspeed.com or RX-7 club (located below where it says "welcome username)

You mean like the "view new posts" link at the top of the page? ;)
its below the header, to the right of "my controls"
